About

Django Durrant is a folk/alt-rock artist influenced by the plethora of 60s & 70s music and contemporary artists like Sam Evian, This is the Kit, and Weyes Blood. Django creates songs that ebb and flow between these influences with recurring themes of nature and introspection, the glue which binds his varied catalogue.

His self-produced album ‘Stories As You Pass By’ takes the listener on a walk through the woods where a character lies in wait behind every song. Django blends lusciously mixed rhythms, ethereal melodies, and dark fantastical lyricism to conjure magic that embeds itself in your psyche.

Lead single Sylph Song is out now. Stories As You Pass By releases 29th May!

My Background

I grew up surrounded by music so it’s always been the biggest thing in my life. My dad (Richard) is a guitarist/artist/composer and my mum is essentially his manager, they’re the only people I know who’ve been able to sustain a career in the music industry completely independently without having access to some secret pot of gold. This is undoubtedly because of child labour: I’ve engineered, produced, lighting and sound techied, and generally slogged gear around long before I did my GCSE’s. It’s been great! I am one of four and my siblings (Rooney, Daisy, & Felix) and I have performed since I cant remember when, originally for the cute factor on stage but we all learnt instruments from about five and now we all go on tour together every December.

I’ve played a range of genres. The Christmas tour is a mix of folk, choral music, baroque, medieval tunes, carols, and Christmas hits. I’ve also been in a jazz band doing stuff like Watermelon Man, a rock band  doing your typical Arctic Monkeys covers, and Orchestras that toured Italy and Poland playing classical nonsense. My music taste is also a bit random and all this helps to really confuse me but sometimes also to write songs I really love.
